Dr Rahul Jain Appointed Principal of RNT Medical College; Plans Several Reforms
Dr Rahul Jain, as new Principal and Controller of RNT Medical College Udaipur, plans several reforms including night OPD, improved emergency services and expansion of satellite hospitals
Udaipur, March 13, 2026 - Dr Rahul Jain has been appointed as Principal and Controller of Ravindra Nath Tagore (RNT) Medical College, Udaipur, on orders of the State Government. Dr Jain has been Superintendent for the past eight years and is currently providing services at District Hospital Ambamata and the Satellite Hospital in Hiran Magri.
As new Principal, Dr Jain has outlined several priorities to improve medical services. A key focus will be strengthening the emergency unit by deploying senior doctors to ensure better treatment for critically ill patients. He also plans to reduce the morning OPD rush by introducing a night OPD, ensuring patients do not need to visit doctors at their private residences during evening or night hours.
Other plans include acquiring vacant land near the veterinary hospital and surrounding areas, and establishing a Tribal Research, Diagnosis and Advisory Centre to provide better consultation and treatment for patients coming from tribal regions of southern Rajasthan.
To strengthen academic activities at RNT Medical College, Dr Jain has emphasised increasing research work, conferences and seminars to improve the institute’s national ranking.
Considering the heavy crowd and parking problems at Maharana Bhupal (MB) Hospital and Panna Dhai Hospital, Dr Jain plans to strengthen the Hiran Magri and Ambamata satellite hospitals by deploying specialist doctors so that patients with common illnesses can receive treatment there, reducing pressure on the main hospitals.
Additionally, there is a plan to develop the Badi Medical College campus and shift some departments there, which would help ease congestion and parking problems at MB Hospital. Restarting evening training clinics for medical students is also among his priorities.
