June 14, 2025 - Vijay Sethupathi’s film Ace is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. This unique movie blends romance, crime and comedy into a fun package. After a modest run in theatres, it is ready to win over audiences at home.

The Story 

The story of Ace is set in Malaysia, where Kannan (played by Sethupathi) wants to leave his past behind and start a new life. But things take a turn when he gets caught in a dangerous robbery plan that drags him back into the underworld.

During this journey, he meets Arivu (Yogi Babu), a ragpicker who acts like a big businessman. Kannan also meets Rukmini (Rukmini Vasanth), a woman facing financial problems. To help her, Kannan takes a risky path. The story becomes more exciting with the entry of a loan shark named Dharma (BS Avinash) and the police. The film offers a mix of love, comedy and suspense.

Strong Performances

Sethupathi delivers a strong performance, mixing seriousness and humour in his role. Rukmini, a Kannada actress making her Tamil debut, brings emotion with her simple and natural acting.

Babu shines with his comic timing and his one-liners are some of the best moments in the film. The supporting cast of Divya Pillai, Preethviraj Bablu and Ramesh Thilak add to the film’s strength.

Why You Should Watch ‘Ace’

Even though Ace received a mixed response in theatres and earned only Rs 8.91 crore at the box office, the pairing of Sethupathi and Babu makes it enjoyable. The film is directed by Arumuga Kumar, who also produced it under the 7Cs Entertainment banner.

The music by Justin Prabhakaran and Sam CS adds extra flavour to the film. Ace is a good pick for viewers who enjoy light-hearted stories with a bit of suspense.
