Drivers and nursing staff of the 108-Ambulance service went on indefinite strike. The protestors demand salary hike, permanent job and revamping the ambulances with basic equipment etc.
Over hundred staff members of the ambulance service protested today and alleged that their contractor exploited them by making them work for more than 12 hours.
Azam Khan, representative of the driver’s association informed that, the financial condition of all the employees is very bad as their salaries are not raised since 2008. Moreover, many ambulances are in pathetic conditions and lack equipment to tackle critical patients.
The protestors also demanded to get permanent jobs and do not wish to work under contract basis.
Khan said, “The strike will continue till our demands are not met and administration will be responsible for the loss.”
