Shalu Jain, the acid attack survivor went on hunger strike to demand her remaining amount of compensation as promised by government. Shalu was attacked by a group of people in 2009.

Shalu Jain, the acid attack survivor went on hunger strike to demand her remaining amount of compensation as promised by government. Shalu was attacked by a group of people in 2009.

Since 4 years after the horrific incident, Shalu was given Rs.1 lac from government but had spent nearly 8 lac rupees in multiple surgeries. She was also promised a house at housing board colony.

Jain told media that over the years she met several officials of human rights, women rights and other government and non government department but she was given only assurances.

Initially, she was denied protesting in front of collectorate but later allowed on condition of not disturbing the traffic.

Shalu Jain told media that she is protesting outside collectorate to fight for her rights. “I wish no other women would go through the incident I’m facing but unfortunately five more women became victims of acid attack and two of the victims died.”

“No compensation was given to any of the victim’ said Shalu.
