A group of journalists demonstrated outside Collector’s office for their prolonged demand of allotment of plots. A memorandum was also given to the ADM City.

Journalists have decided to continue the demonstration for next two days and if no positive action is taken, they will go on hunger strike.

Many senior journalists have taken part in the protest. Many social organizations have also come forward in support of the cause.

Manu Rao, President of Lake city Press Club informed that the matter was under consideration for a long time and there is no legal obstacle in the process but due to the negligence of some administrative officers, the plots have not been allotted yet.

While informing about the matter Rao said, “About 144 journalists of Udaipur applied for plots under the state government’s special project “Patrakar Bhu Avantan Vishesh Yojna.”

Last year, out of 144 applications UIT gave allotment letters to 102 applicants. But later, few journalists who were unsatisfied with the allotment, approached court but a stay was ordered. After a month the stay was removed.

“We had meetings with R.P Sharma, UIT Secretary and Ashutosh Pednekar, district collector who is also Chairman of UIT but still no satisfactory decision has been taken.” added Rao.

Dr. Ravi Sharma, Kapil Shrimali, Jay Prakash Mali, Bhupendra Singh Chundawat etc were also present at the Collector’s office.
