Constable shot by opium smugglers
In a late night encounter with Opium Smugglers at Devgarh, Rajsamand, a constable of Devgarh Police Station got injured when hit by two bullets.
On receiving the information from the informant, Devgarh police enforced a blockade at 2am. They we're subsequently able to trace and block the suspects. On being surrounded, the smugglers opened fire. In this encounter, Balveer Singh, Constable, Devgarh Police Station was hit by two bullets on his arm and stomach respectively. A total of 6 rounds of bullets were fired.

A total of 6 rounds of bullets were fired.
The suspects ran away from the scene, but left their vehicle behind. Police took the Opium in the vehicle and rushed Balveer Singh to the hospital. He was then referred to M.B. Hospital, Udaipur at 4 AM.
In the morning, around 10.45am, Police Officials including Subodh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner; Dayanand Saran, DYSP; T.C. Damor, IG and Ratan Chawla, CI, Hathipol Police Station visited M.B. Hospital to meet Balveer Singh and assured him of the best treatment possible.
Later around 11.30 am, Balveer Singh was referred to Ahmedabad for further medical care
