As per the research, people with O blood groups are less suspectible.
This deos not mean that O group people are completely immune to the virus.
A piece of news that has been doing rounds over the net is about blood groups and susceptibility. The news is based on the research done by CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research).
CSIR has released a research paper indicating that people with blood groups AB and B are more susceptible to Covid-19 whereas blood group O is least affected by the virus. The research also states that this does not mean that the people with O group are completely immune to the virus. It simply means that most of the O group people remained asymptomatic or had very mild symptoms.
The research says that the highest number of infected people found had AB and B blood groups and those with O group were the least in number. Apart from this the CSIR research also says that vegetarians are less susceptible to corona virus. Vegetarian diet is rich in fiber and a fiber rich diet is also anti-inflammatory.
A pathologist from Agra, Dr Ashok Sharma said that it is possible for the O group people to have a better immune response against this virus as compared to AB and B.
The report is based on a nationwide seropositivity survey conducted by CSIR. With a sample size of over 10 thousand people countrywide, the data has been analyzed by a group of 140 doctors (as per an authentic media report).
