JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED? MEMORANDUM SEEKS RELEASING BENEFITS DUE TO LATE MAJOR MUSTAFA BOHRA of UDAIPUR

Udaipur, July 4, 2026 | Udaipur Local News: Senior leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party and former District President Virendra Singh Solanki has presented a memorandum seeking justice for the family of late Major Mustafa Bohra, who was martyred while on a chopper sortie in October 2022 at Arunachal Pradesh. Major Mustafa has also been posthumously awarded the  the Shaurya Chakra, which was presented to his parents by the President of India, Draupadi Murmu.

The memorandum speaks about the delay in granting the financial and non-financial benefits due, to the family of Late Major Mustafa. The demands that have remained unfulfilled due to red tape and casual approach of the relevant bodies, as per the memorandum, are as follows:

Kargil Package Scheme:

  • Immediate verification and provision of all the financial and other benefits due under the Kargil Package, which is part of the Rajasthan Government's Ex-Serviceman Welfare Policy.
  • Speedy resolution in awarding a MIG (Middle Income Group) housing unit under the Kargil Package scheme.
  • Allottment of a 220 sq meter residential plot at concessional reserve rate to the family, as per the Shaurya Chakra Awardee Scheme.
  • Renaming of Rani Road in Udaipur to Shaheed Major Mustafa Marg - UDA and State Government to act as per provisions of Rajasthan Government's Policy on Ex-Servicement Welfare.
  • Renaming of Government School in Kheroda to Shaheed Major Mustafa Government Senior Secondary School.
  • Constructing a memorial in Kheroda
  • Marking October 21st (the day he died) as Shaheed Major Mustafa Tribute Day.

Allegations of Administrative Mismanagement

In his memorandum, Solanki alleged that the failure to provide the designated benefits to the martyr's family on time—despite the state government's clear schemes and orders—raises serious questions about the administrative functioning. He added that if the family of a Shaurya Chakra awardee and martyr has to struggle for years to secure their legitimate rights, it raises questions about the sensitivity of the government and the administration.

Memorandum was addressed to the President of India, the Prime Minister of India, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Defence Minister of India, Minister for Military Welfare (GoR) and Chief Secretary GoR.

Nodal Officer

Solanki has urged Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to immediately appoint a special nodal officer for this entire matter.

Furthermore, a high-level review should be conducted regarding all financial and non-financial benefits due under the Rajasthan Government's Kargil Package Scheme and the Shaurya Chakra Awardee Scheme, and these benefits should be made available with immediate effect.
