The organizing committee of Jagannath Rath Yatra reached district collector’s office and demanded public holiday on the next day of yatra and suggested to changed the route of the procession.
The organizing committee of Jagannath Rath Yatra reached district collector’s office and demanded public holiday on the next day of yatra and suggested to changed the route of the procession.
Dharmotsav Samiti – Mewar who organizes the annual celebration of Jagannath Rath Yatra consisting of mass procession, bhajan sandhya and prayers in the temple, demanded public holiday a day after rath yatra.
The members said, “Every year number of public participating in the yatra is increasing, people from nearby cities and towns are also participating in it. Moreover, Udaipur’s Jagannath Rath Yatra has become one of the biggest events in Rajasthan which is participated by people of all communities.”
Hence, Udaipur administration should consider a day off after the procession concludes.
The committee also suggested to change the procession route as the current route passes from narrow lanes which could cause any mishap.
