Over a dozen men belonging to Dhobi Samaj whose only profession is washing clothes gathered outside the collectorate and demonstrated their concern over the recent ban on washing clothes at lake side. The protestors justified their stand by saying that washing clothes is their sole profession and lakes are the only place where they get ample amount of space and water to wash clothes. But the recent ban on washing clothes is concerning them. Under the banner of Dhobi Samaj, the protestors demanded a particular place should be allotted to them where they can wash clothes without any problem. As per the sources, Udaipur Administration is already working on the construction of a separate dhobi ghat and a land for the same was purchased by UIT last month.
