The newly elected executive of Bar Association of Udaipur is all set to take oath of 11th January after Udaipur District court rejected the petition demanding a stay on the same.

The stay petition was filed by Arun Vyas who is a Senior Advocate in Udaipur District Court. Arun Vyas had filed the petition stating that the current elections were not according to norms and needs a revaluation.

Vyas laid the premise that non-practicing advocates should not have voting powers and hence their votes should not be taken into consideration and a fresh counting should be done excluding this lot.

On the other hand, Bharat Joshi, President, Bar Association claimed that every member of Bar Association has a right to vote.

District court, after hearing to both the parties, gave a go-ahead to the oath taking ceremony on Jan 11 while maintaining that the matter will remain sub-judice.
