Ward 50 residents and traders seek divine intervention, say public fund is being wasted
Udaipur, November 18, 2024: Residents and traders of Ward 50 are protesting the construction of the 2.7-km long elevated road proposed to be built from the City Railway Station to the Collector’s residence. Today, the protestors, led by Ward Councillor Gaurav Pratap, recited the Hanuman Chalisa at Fateh School Balaji Temple. They said they were seeking divine intervention to bring wisdom to the authorities who are behind this project.
Councillor Pratap said that several memorandums had been submitted to Nagar Nigam officials regarding the elevated road, but no attention was paid to the matter. He lamented that the authorities were wasting public funds with this project and going ahead with its foundation-laying ceremony without consulting traders.
He further said that the Nigam’s earlier project of widening the Surajpol intersection still continues to cause problems to the public. Now, by constructing the elevated road, the officials seem determined to misuse the hard-earned money of the taxpayers, he added.
The foundation stone laying ceremony of the elevated road is slated for 4:00 pm today at the Nagar Nigam premises.
