'Enough is Enough!' Trump Warns Israel to Stop Lebanon Strikes

US President Donald Trump shocks Israel by banning strikes on Lebanon, urging restraint as a fragile ceasefire with Hezbollah faces violations

April 18, 2026 - “Enough is enough….” US President Donald Trump’s outburst on Friday (April 17) barring Israel from attacks on Lebanon has taken Israel by surprise.

"Israel will not be bombing Lebanon any longer. They are PROHIBITED from doing so by the U.S.A. Enough is enough!!!" Trump said in a social media post.

Later again, Trump told Axios, “Israel has to stop. They can’t continue to blow buildings up. I am not gonna allow it”.

The harsh rhetoric from Trump has reportedly shocked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu although there has been no official reaction from him yet. Reports say Israeli officials have got in touch with the White House regarding the above statement and sought clarification.

A US official later clarified that although, as per the ceasefire terms, Israel will not carry out strikes on Lebanon but it reserves the right to self-defence against any imminent attack.

The Trump-engineered 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon took effect at 2100 GMT on Thursday (April 16) but is seen as very fragile with both Israel and Hezbollah trading charges and strikes. Israel has blamed Hezbollah for violating the truce. Explosions were reported in southern Lebanon soon after the ceasefire agreement and a biker was killed in an Israeli drone attack elsewhere, as per reports. An Israeli source said the country’s forces were acting in self-defence

"We have not yet finished the job. There are things we plan to do to address the remaining rocket threat and the drone threat," Netanyahu has issued a subtle threat indicating that Israel's military operations against Hezbollah may not be over yet.
