In a prompt action by Pratap Nagar police, five child marriage ceremonies were stopped yesterday. The marriages were conducted by Mewar Lohar community.
In a prompt action by Pratap Nagar police, five child marriage ceremonies were stopped yesterday. The marriages were conducted by Mewar Lohar community.
As per Police, “Upon information the Police raided the Community Hall in Pratap Nagar, where they found five couples, where the age of girls was between 16 to 17.”
“Pre wedding rituals were in process when police raided the place and parents of minors were shocked when they saw police. Officials tried to reason with the parents and also confirmed the age of girls.”
It was found that all five girls were between 16 to 17 age group and one boy was below 18 years of age.
Some parents also told about how they took loan for these marriages. One single mother, took loan of Rs. 70,000 for marrying her daughter, whereas one father took loan of Rs. 50,000.
