Each State Should Have 3-5 Sainik Schools, Says VP; Increase Intake Capacity
Udaipur, July 13, 2026 | National News: CP Radhakrishnan, the Vice-President of India has suggested that the network of Sainik Schools and National Cadet Corps should be increased across India.
He made these observations while participating in a briefing on NCC and Sainik Schools by the Ministry of Defence at the Uprashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on July 13.
Sainik Schools Intake
The VP said that there is a growing demand among parents and students for admissions into Sainik Schools. The government must address this demand and increase the intake in existing Sainik Schools as well as establish new Sainik Schools. He suggested that each State across India should have 3-5 Sainik Schools to address this demand. He was briefed on the functioning and expansion of Sainik Schools, including the existing PPP models.
NCC Contributes to Nation Building
The VP described the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat camps as an excellent initiative for strengthening national integration. Emphasising that strengthening the 20 lakh strong NCC organisation is a shared national responsibility, Radhakrishnan called for greater infrastructure development and enhanced coordination with State Governments on issues related to land and training infrastructure and assured of all possible support in this matter.
