Rajasthan News: Government Advisories for Awareness on Digital Fraud and Cyber Hygiene
Udaipur, June 18, 2026 | Rajasthan Government News (Information and Public Relations Department): As our dependence and trust on technology is increasing, cyber fraudsters are exploring the virtual domain exponentially. Unauthorized instant loan apps that target individuals with urgent financial needs by promising immediate cash without requiring collateral. Once the app is installed, scammers gain access to the user's mobile data, contact list, and personal information. They subsequently engage in illegal extortion by exerting pressure through exorbitant interest rates, threats, blackmail, and the use of morphed images.
The state government has issued two cyber security advisories aimed at promoting cyber hygiene and raising public awareness regarding digital fraud of the kind mentioned above and more. These advisories place special emphasis on protection against extortion and digital harassment, perpetrated through illegal and unauthorized instant loan apps. Additionally, the advisories also urge the public to remain vigilant against 'task scams' and to be cautious regarding extortion cases involving instant loan apps. Govt of Rajasthan News
This advisory urge citizens to download financial applications only from authorized and trusted platforms and to avoid granting unnecessary permissions to any app.
Need for Vigilance Against 'Task Scams'
Another advisory issued by the Home Department alerts citizens to 'task scams'—a form of online part-time job fraud. Cybercriminals pose as representatives of reputable companies, enticing people with the promise of attractive earnings for simple tasks; after gaining trust through initial payments, they attempt to persuade victims to invest large sums of money. The state government has appealed to the public to immediately contact the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 and register a complaint at https://www.cybercrime.gov.in in the event of any cyber fraud, online scam, extortion, or suspicious digital activity.
