The team from the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a Junior Engineer for allegedly taking a bribe of Rupees 1.16 lakhs in the form of commission from the amount allotted by the government for the construction of common toilets to be constructed in various schools under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan.

Om JoshI, 40, s/o Hira Lal Joshi, resident of Bedla, Junior Engineer and a 3^rd grade teacher at a school at Badgaon was caught with Rupees Twenty Five Thousand cash and a Cheque of Rupees Seventy Thousand. All the all currency notes and the cheque were pre-marked by ACB.

The ACB team comprised of Rajendra Goyal, ADSP of ACB; Sunder Lal, Director; Rajendra Jain, C.I; Jitendra Sandya, Constable; Munir Khan, Constable; Akhtar Khan, Constable; Sanju, Female Constable; Hemant, Kailash Vyas and Dinesh Meena.

Rajendra Prasad Goyal informed UT, “Yesterday we got a complaint from Prem Chand Lohar who is working on the Government project, Sarv Shiksha Abhyaan as a Civil Contractor from February 2012.

Under this project he got the responsibility of constructing 15 common toilets in various schools at the District level for which he was allotted a budget of Rupees Eleven lac and got a part of the amount during the period of construction.

He also added that the Junior Engineer heading the project from February had demanded 10% of the total amount allotted for construction as commission from the contractor.

He further said that in this relation the Junior Engineer had already received an amount of Rupees Twenty One Thousand from the contractor in the month of February”.

As per Rajendra Prasad Goyal, ADSP in the raid the ACB team found a Register from the Junior Engineers office in which he has maintained the calculation of the amount of commission with clearly mentioned dates and on the basis of these facts we got from the accused office we have taken him into custody and have started our investigation. Moreover, we have also seized one of his Bank lockers after verifying the culprits bank details.
