A press conference was organized today by the Bhartiya Janta Mazdoor Mahasang in the Alok Sansthan Conference Hall at Sector 11, Hiran Magri, where a heated discussion took place on the present conditions of the laborers in the country, which was the major issue.
On the occasion Prahlad Patel, General Secretary, BJMM, Devendra Sharma, Pradesh Adhyaksh and Hiralal, State Secretary (Chittorgarh) were present along with many other representatives of the party.
In a conversation with the media, all the participants expressed their views on the betterment of the labor and emphasized on the upliftment of their living standards.
Prahlad Patel said that there are 62 categories of labor in the country, but presently only 57 categories out of the 62 have proper defined labor laws in their favor. He elaborated with the example of a Mine Laborer, whose working environment is very hazardous and life threatening risks always prevail in those circumstances.
These conditions thus call for a legislation of proper labor laws for all the 62 different categories.
Patel also raised the issue of providing identity cards to all the laborers in all the categories whether they are construction labor, factory labor or mine labor. This way the government can easily provide Welfare Schemes to the labor.
In the conference, Prahlad Patel also said that the Mahasangh is demanding a separate hospital facility for the laborers and the government should make proper arrangements for the laborers to easily obtain the amount of Provident fund.
He suggested that the government can make Adhaar Cards for these laborers, and the PF number can be mentioned on their Adhaar Cards so as to easily enable the poor laborers to get the PF amount.
He also added that the authority of the registration of the laborers should be given to the Sarpanch and not to the Labor Inspector.
He concluded the discussion with the information of a mass demonstration to be held in Delhi on 25th September 2012, where more than 1 Lac laborers are expected to participate in the event for the Labor Rights.
This Bhartiya Janta Mazdoor Mahasangh was formed 2 years back on 23rd November 2010.
