Labours from various mines situated in Rishabhdev area, under the banner of Peoples Union for Civil Liberties, Janvadi Mazdoor Union and unions protecting the rights of mine labours of scheduled tribes protested outside collector’s office today and handed over a memorandum against the exploitation of their rights.

Labours from various mines situated in Rishabhdev area, under the banner of Peoples Union for Civil Liberties, Janvadi Mazdoor Union and unions protecting the rights of mine labours of scheduled tribes protested outside collector’s office today. They also handed over a memorandum against the exploitation of their rights.

The protestors alleged that, due to some influential people, their 8-day long non-violent protest was forced stopped by police.

Labours were on dharna regarding several of their basic demands like minimum wages, following all labour laws etc.

Copies of memorandum were given to Div. Commissioner, Inspector General of Police, District Collector and Superintendent of Police.

The mine workers demanded higher administrative officials to instruct police to not to interfere unnecessarily and take action against the mine owners.
