Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar said the public had suffered owing to the arrogance and pride of certain individuals. He added that decorum played a crucial role in resolving the issue. He further said that he had maintained right from the beginning that it would not be acceptable for thousands to stand at the City Palace gates and demand entry. This was not the civilized way.

Regarding the opening of the City Palace gates, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar told that the administration would have to ensure that there would be no further problems. Once that assurance is given, the gates would be opened, he said.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us many lessons and no one today likes an atmosphere of silence…everyone wants to see liveliness and activity, he said. We too want to see the gates of City Palace opened so that waiting visitors can come and experience the heritage of Udaipur, he added.
