Cancellation of allotment of land for madrasa in Mavli

Udaipur, 25 September 2024: The Rajasthan Government has issued an order to cancel the land allocated for the construction of a madrasa (for educational purposes) in Mavli, Udaipur district. The land had been allocated to Madrasa Islamia Gausia Anjuman Mavli.

Further, the order directed that an inquiry should be conducted into the discrepancies between the report submitted at the time of allocation and the current referenced report, and action should be taken against the responsible officers/employees. The department should be informed of the actions taken without delay.

The cancellation was made on grounds of being influenced by Abdul Rahman. The order also directs that the proposed land be reclaimed and appropriately marked in revenue records.

The cancellation order was in response to an application sent by Udaipur DC, Arvind Poswal, recently recommending withdrawal of permission following a widespread protest and shutdown in Mavli on Monday, September 23, 2024. Local residents said the allocated land falls in an area with waterlogging issues and is affected by the Abdul Rahman case. They demanded that the land permission for the madrasa be cancelled.

Deputy Secretary Birdi Chand Gangwal has directed Udaipur District Collector Arvind Poswal to cancel the previous departmental approval (dated January 28, 2022), which had granted 0.0700 hectares of land from Plot No. 1745, measuring four bighas and 16 biswas, in Revenue Village Mavli of Mavli Tehsil.
