Udaipur gets a new Collector today in the form of Ashutosh A T Pednekar, who officially takes charge from today, August 7, 2013 as the Collector of Udaipur.

Pednekar, who hails from Goa, is an IAS 2002 Batch Officer and has previously donned the mantle of District Collector at Alwar, Ganganagar and Boondi, before being given the charge of Udaipur, was appointed to the seat after the recent transfer of Vikas Bhale to Nagaur.

“My native place Goa and Udaipur share similar tourist value and beautiful sights. Both are famous worldwide and I would like to work on increasing Udaipur’s beauty coefficient”, said Pednekar while addressing the media.

On being asked his priorities, he answered – “Firstly, the implementations of the flagship schemes of the Chief Minister will be executed, so that people could be benefitted with the schemes, which are still on paper and not in action mode.”

“Udaipur is also growing as the Education hub, and pushing this development in the right direction is on my list”, he said.

Quoting on the traffic and transportation problems in the city, he added, “Developing a framework to deal with traffic problems and eradication of issues causing a hurdle to traffic is necessary, and also would be my one of my top concerns”.

While serving in Alwar, Pednekar was the man behind ‘Alwar Vahini’ – a local transportation facility which garnered a lotof appreciation. When being pointed out about the City Bus service of Udaipur, he replied, “I will be meeting with the concerned officials and will look into the matter of how and when this service can be functional again?”

“Along with the development concerns for the tribal areas of Udaipur, developing Small scale and Cottage Industries in the vicinity is also in my mind. With these industries, the labor community then would not have to migrate to other regions to gain skills and employment; it would also be beneficial for all”, he added.
