Udaipur Municipal Corporation cut down two eucalyptus trees at Bhandari Darshak Mandap (Gandhi Ground) today. If sources are to be believed, trees were brought down owing to security reasons for the upcoming rally of Narendra Modi on 26th Oct. Mayor Rajni Dangi, however, stated that this was part of routine process of maintenance.
“It’s a part of maintenance process and not done for any specific reason. The trees were old and fragile and could have fallen down anytime. Prior permission from collector was also taken before cutting the trees”, said Rajni Dangi.
Mayor’s response did not seem completely satisfactory given that the cutting of trees was considered just 2 days before the mass rally.
Preparation for Narendra Modi’s visit is at its final leg. Seating arrangements for eminent leaders and general audience, security measures etc are all in place. Government security and surveillance agencies have also made the preparation on their part.
