Two accused, who were arrested last night outside the excise officer’s residence were presented in the court today and were consequently taken on three days remand for carrying illegal consignment of liquor in their truck.

Two accused, who were arrested last night outside the excise officer’s residence were presented in the court today and were consequently taken on three days remand for carrying illegal consignment of liquor in their truck.

Their truck carrying the illegal liquor was seized yesterday afternoon by Bhanu Pratap Singh, ASI, Excise Department but interestingly, it’s custody was neither given to police nor any higher official was informed about it by Singh.

Kailash Khatik, C.I Hiran Magri informed UT – Bhanu Pratap Singh took the truck in his custody yesterday afternoon and ordered the driver to park it in front of his (Singh’s) residence in Savina. Meanwhile, when Hiran Magri Police got the information about this, they went to the ASI’s house and seized the truck taking it under their custody.

On asking the ASI that why the truck was parked in front of his house? He gave the reference of higher officials having the information about it.

When Police talked to the officials mentioned, they refused to have got any information about the incidence and assured the police about the strict action against the ASI Bhanu Pratap Singh if he was found guilty in the case.

According to the Police, the market value of the illegal liquor seized last night is more than Rs. 25 lacs.

In the 3 days remand of both the accused, police will try to investigate about the involvement of ASI in this case.
