Udaipur, May 12, 2026: The allegations of the paper leak in the May 3 NEET UG examination in Rajasthan has led the National Testing Agency (NTA) to cancel the examination. Allegations of a question paper leak during the May 3 NEET UG 2026 examination in Rajasthan have pushed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to recommend the cancellation of the exam.

The decision comes after findings reviewed jointly by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) and central authorities, along with reports shared by law enforcement agencies.

Earlier the NTA has given the task of investigating the claims of paper leaks in Rajasthan to the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG). Now the agency has called for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for independent verification and resulting action.

The NTA has said in its official announcement that the examination stands cancelled and that the new dates will be announced on its official channel in due course. This cancellation has led to disruption in the plans of the candidates and the linked stakeholders.

The NTA has also clarified that the original registration and fees and centre selection will be carried forward and that there will be no new process. Additionally, the fees paid for the examination will be refunded to the students and the fresh examination will be held using internal resources, added the NTA announcement.

Trust of Students Shattered

Reacting to the controversy, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi government in a social media post. He wrote, "NEET 2026 has become an auction, with papers allegedly sold on WhatsApp before the test while 22 lakh students worked tirelessly all year. The trust of 22 lakh children has been shattered. And no one poses a greater threat to the dreams of India’s youth than the Modi government.”

Call for Nationwide Agitation

Arvind Kejriwal meanwhile has called the alleged paper leaks as an attack on the aspirants and urged students to organize a nationwide response.
