A Nilgai (antelope) was rescued from Akashwani Colony, sector 5 today after hours of rescue operation performed by forest officials. The antelope was first spotted early morning by a resident of Akashwani Colony who informed the forest officials.

A Nilgai (antelope) was rescued from Akashwani Colony, sector 5 today after hours of rescue operation performed by forest officials. The antelope was first spotted early morning by a resident of Akashwani Colony who informed the forest officials.

Nilgai rescued from Akashwani Colony

The rescue operation that started at 10:30 am finally ended at 2pm. Weighing more than 300kg, the male Nilgai attempted to flee but the team of forest department, led by Satnam Singh successfully caught the animal.

Satnam Singh informed, “It is assumed that the Nilgai might have come from the Eklingpura side and now will be released at the Biological Park at Sajjangarh.”

A local resident of the colony informed that during rescue, the animal got injured due to stone pelting by local people.
