NREGA Employees in dire straits as Government fails to Act
A huge number of NREGA employees who were working on contractual basis at various government offices staged a protest outside the Divisional Commissioner’s office today.
A huge number of NREGA employees who were working on contractual basis at various government offices staged a protest outside the Divisional Commissioner’s office today. They conducted a rally from Town Hall, which after passing various circles of the city ended outside the Divisional Commissioner’s Office.
Annoyed NREGA employees from 6 Districts gathered at Town Hall and displayed their anger against the Government on non fulfillment of their prolonged demand of getting permanent jobs. They also handed over a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner containing their 8 different demands.
One of the protesters, Ghanshyam Sharma highlighted that they were protesting against the Government since last 15 days but till now their demands were not given priority. All the protesters are facing abject conditions and have also undergone financial crisis these days in the absence of jobs but the government is totally negligent towards their conditions.
Sharma also warned the administration that if the demands are not fulfilled then they will resort to violence and the Government and Administration will be held responsible for resulting consequences.
