According to Heena’s father, Kamruddin Rangrez, Heena was living with her husband at Dhariyawad since marriage. A few days before the incident, Azmat’s friends approached Heena’s father and demanded Rupees One and a Half Lac on behalf of Azmat. “After a few days, Azmat’s family came to me and demanded the same, which I denied clearly. They also threatened me of Heena’s life but I took it lightly” said Kamruddin in the FIR.
A resident of Pratapgarh, Heena, also a mother of a 3-month-old baby-girl was married to Azmat in March 2011. It was a clandestine marriage against the wishes of their families. Azmat being a daily wage laborer was in need of money to start his own work.

“When we reached hospital, we saw them (Azmat and his family) taking Heena’s dead body from hospital”, added Kamruddin.
As alleged by Kamruddin, on seeing him coming, Azmat left his wife’s body and fled from the hospital, however, taking the infant with him.
“The baby also has minor burns on her head, they took away her”, Kamruddin told the Police.
