In a unanimous decision taken by the Ashok Gehlot led Rajasthan government, it was unanimously decided that Petrol will reduce by Rs 4 and Diesel by Rs 5 with effect from midnight of 17 November.
This reduction will lead to a loss of revenue of Rs 3,500 to the state government.
In the Cabinet meeting today, it was unanimously decided to reduce the rate of VAT on petrol/diesel. From 12 o'clock tonight, the rates will be reduced by Rs 4 per liter for petrol and Rs 5 per liter for diesel.

Ashok Gehlot, in his letter to the Prime Minister and Home Minister (Read Story Here) had suggested that the Central government work on further reducing the Excise on fuel, that will result in the reduction of VAT for Petrol and Diesel. He had mentioned that the State Government will however be reducing the VAT and is ready to bear the burden of loss of revenue to the tune of Rs 3,500 Crore in public interest.
