Police Station Dedicated to Tourists – a First for Rajasthan
The State’s first Tourist Police Station will start at Udaipur from today near Bagor Ki Haveli. Earlier, as per the Budget proposals announced by the Chief Minister, Ashok Gahlot, the Tourist Police stations were proposed to be opened at Udaipur, Jaipur and Jhodpur. There is yet to be any implementation in the other cities named above, but the initiative has been taken in Udaipur.

The State gets it first ‘Tourist Police Station’ after the Tourist Police Station was inaugurated at 4PM today by Inspector General of Police, T.C. Damor. Udaipur became the first city to have got a Police Station especially for tourists, after it was proposed in the last budget to open such police stations in all tourist cities viz. Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. Hari Prasad Sharma, SP informed that, police officials of this station will closely keep an eye on illegal guides. Officials including Sudheer Joshi, ASP; DySP, Anant Kumar; DySP, Dayanand Saran; DySP, Swati Sharma and others were present during the inaugration.

SP, Hari Prasad Sharma informed that in this Police Station, there will be a staff of 15 Police men including CI, ASI, Head Constables and Constables. Jitendra Singh has been appointed as SHO at the Tourist Police station, and for the convenience of the tourists the Police Station staff will be taught English and French so that the tourist get a comfort level in speaking to the police and even the police are at ease in dealing with them.
According to the Tourism department every year around 5 lac local tourists and more than 2 lac foreign tourists visit Udaipur.
Now, problems related to communication and the right protocol, that were being faced in the previous years are expected to be solved to a certain extent. In case of any requirement or in the event of any unfortunate incident, the Tourist can simply go to the Tourist police station and give their report.
Along with this three new regular police stations have been opened recently around the city at Ghasa village, Bawalvara village and Tidi village.
