If things go as planned, city’s chourahas will be under 24hrs surveillance through close circuit cameras. A private company from Jodhpur that deals in surveillance cameras has inspected main chourahas today with the officials of Traffic Police Department.
Company will now give an estimated cost of installing cameras and then after further documentations, administration might approve the project.
Mahendra Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) has told UT, “Last year, we had sent proposals to Municipal Council regarding cctv cameras, but it could not be worked out due to over budget; this time the cost is comparatively low and we expect positive response from the authority.”
Representatives from the company visited Chetak Circle, Delhi Gate, Court Chouraha, Surajpol and Thokar Chouraha.
Singh said, “By installing cameras at Chourahas, we can manage traffic situation and also monitor any offence including breaking traffic rules, accidents. This will also help Police at the time of Naka-Bandi to catch offenders.”
After inspection, the company will provide us their estimation and it will be presented before proposal committee of district. The process can take at least 6 months, says Singh.
