With the help of Skill based and Livelihood Development Program introduced by the State Government, the district administration under the direction of Collector Ashutosh Pednekar has successfully trained over 2000 people and 199 are still under training.

According to the collector, “Providing training is not the only priority, but more importantly we want them to get jobs which will help them improve their living standards.”

To make this program more effective, around five private organizations including Aid at Action, India Can, Focus, Sky Lark and AISET are working together in this program. These organizations are responsible for providing training to the aspirants.

These organizations select the people according to their field of interest and then provide them training for that particular field.

It is usually seen that a huge number of people do not get a chance to study or to be skilled in any field due to lack of financial support and in this way they remain unemployed. Considering this, government took the responsibility in the year 2004 of first selecting such disadvantaged people and then providing them with employment.

R.K Agarwal, District Project Manager of Rajasthan Gramin Ajivika Vikas Parishad and Ashish Ajmera, District Manager of Rajasthan Skill & Livelihood Development Corporation informed that the percentage of candidate being trained under the program is presently 67% and there are around 20 categories in which people are getting trainings and jobs namely Banking, Catering, Computers, Internet, Corporate, Housekeeping, Domestic BPO, Hotel Management, Office Assistance, Retail Operations, Retail Management, Tally and Tele caller etc.

Ashutosh Pednekar, District. Collector also informed that a new project might start soon in which a call center will be set up where anybody can call and enquire about any domestic assistance like electricity, plumbing or automobile mechanics.

“We will hire a large number of people in this project and the selection will be done according to their efficiency and interest,” added Collector.

This idea will be more beneficial for aged people living alone who cannot go out and search for a mechanic or an electrician.

The project was executed by the Collector when he was posted in Ganganagar and it proved to be a great success. For Udaipur, the proposal is already send to the authorities and the administration is waiting for its approval.
