Rajasthan Govt Acts Against Hospitals Opposing RGHS | New Hospitals to Join Panel
Udaipur, Aug 27 2025: The Rajasthan government has initiated proceedings to impose strict measures against hospitals that are resisting compliance and membership under the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS).
According to Medical Health Department Secretary Gayatri Rathod, a list of hospitals that are refusing to offer services under RGHS is currently being compiled, with plans to exclude them from the panel. Additionally, the process of incorporating new hospitals into RGHS has commenced to ensure that beneficiaries do not experience any issues when it comes to treatment.
Over 350 hospitals statewide have expressed interest in joining this scheme. At present, more than 50% of the hospitals in the state are participating in RGHS, but 5-7 private hospitals in various cities, including Jaipur, have engaged in irregular activities related to the scheme, leading to fines amounting to lakhs of rupees imposed on them.
To evade penalties, the operators of these hospitals formed a new association and declared their intention to withdraw from providing RGHS services while attempting to rally other hospitals and pharmacy operators to join their protest.
The Health Department stated that in response to hospitals' complaints about overdue payments, the government has swiftly acted, disbursing over Rs 850 crore to hospitals under RGHS from April 2025 to date. Nearly all pending payments prior to March 2025 have been settled, except for those hospitals facing complaints of irregularities or misconduct. These institutions are either being investigated or have been found guilty as a result of the investigations.
The government maintains that RGHS is dedicated to ensuring consistent medical services for the beneficiaries. This scheme will be enhanced by the addition of new hospitals to the panel and by taking action against those found to be engaging in irregularities.
RGHS Fraud
The government, as week ago had initiated action against the RHGS fraud being perpetrated in certain hospitals and was deliberating on taking decisive action against hospitals, pharmacies and personnel engaged in irregularities in the RGHS scheme. The Principal Secretary of the Medical & Health department had spoken about persistent complaints on the RGHS irregularities. Subsequent to conducting an audit by the Finance Department, action was taken and FIRs were registered against one hospital and three pharmacies as well as recommended action letters issued against 473 personnel across five departments. Disciplinary action was recommended against 8 allopathic doctors and two ayurvedic doctors as well.
