The landmark scheme for government school students was launched on February 26 by Minister Madan Dilawar from Udaipur; to benefit 1.37 lakh students in Udaipur division
Udaipur, February 27, 2025 - State Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar yesterday launched the Shiksha Sanjeevani Bima Yojana at the Residency Girls Higher Secondary School in Udaipur, an innovative step towards providing personal accident insurance for government students across the State.
Through CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), government school students from Grades 1 to 5 and their parents will be covered under a personal accident insurance of up to Rs 1 lakh. This Rajasthan government scheme starts from Udaipur and around 1.35 lakh children are expected to benefit from it in the Udaipur division.
During the event, the Minister made symbolic distribution of bank diaries and kits to 21 children.
A landmark initiative by Rajasthan government, this unique scheme will gradually expand and is aimed at aiding one crore government school children across the State. The goal of this scheme is to ensure continuity in children's education, prevent child labour, promote financial inclusion through Digital India, prevent misuse of insurance claim amounts, instill a habit of saving from an early age and provide scholarships with interest until the child turns 18 in case of a parent's accidental demise.
The Education Minister said that accidents sometimes resulted in the death or disability of parents, causing children to drop out of school. However, in the event of such an unforeseen situation, with this scheme children will not be forced to give up their studies.
"Presently over one lakh students are benefitted under it in Udaipur, and soon after the scheme will be expanded across Rajasthan and will ensure that all students in the State benefit from it," Education Department officials said, adding "Preparations have started in this reference to benefit students from other districts too. We are targeting over a crore students to benefit from this scheme soon.”
