Dinesh Tarwadi, Vice President of the State Scheduled Caste Commission has asked the M.B Hospital authorities to investigate an alleged physical abuse by a resident doctor with a person whose relative is admitted to the hospital.
“Make a report in 7 days and submit it to the schedule cast commission” Tarwadi asked the hospital authority.
According to sources, yesterday on 15th June a person named Jagdish Regar has been allegedly beaten and subjected to alleged verbal abuse by a resident doctor Sompal Adiwal. Jagdish’s brother-in-law is admitted in hospital from the last seven days.
The problem occurred when Dr. Sompal Adiwal was scolded by his senior Dr. Tarun Gupta for giving inappropriate medicine to Jagdish Regar’s relative. Annoyed with the reprimand Dr. Sompal allegedly took off his frustration on Jagdish by beating and abusing him.
Jagdish wrote a complaint letter to the Chief Superintendent, Dr. D.P Singh. Dr. Singh said that the resident doctors report to RNT Medical College Principal Dr. S.K Kaushik. “I will inform Dr. Kaushik of this matter”, assured Dr. Singh.

According to sources, Dr. Sompal Adiwal has many similar complaints against him. As per one of the officials who told UT on condition of anonymity, Adiwal is short tempered and often abuses others including patients relatives.
Dinesh Tarwadi went to see Regar and asked his well being. He told UT in a telephonic conversation that there are many such misconducts going in hospital. “I will try to make things better so that nobody gets mistreated or discriminated for financial or social reasons”, said Dinesh Tarwadi.
UT was not able to reach Dr. Sompal Adiwal for his comments.
