Responding to the allegation of beating the home guards and demanding replacement of Home Guards with a more efficient security agency, at least twenty resident doctors presented a memorandum today to the Principal of RNT medical college, Dr. S.K. Kaushik.
Resident doctors mentioned that the unruly behavior of home guards with the Doctors of M.B. Hospital is increasing with every passing day. Also, they alleged that the home guards have not been doing their job efficiently and are often absent at the time of duty.
They also alleged that the Home Guards mistreat the patients from rural areas and they do not even stop anti-social elements from entering the wards. In case of a security situation, they just shrug off and say “this is not my duty”.
The memorandum was presented by Dr. Raman Choudhary, President of RDA (Resident Doctor’s Association), Dr. Pavan Sharma, Convener and Dr. Kaptan Singh, General Secretary of RDA.
Dr. Dharm Singh Rawat, MBBS, MS, Vice President of RDA and the doctor who was blamed by the Home Guard in-charge said, “On the evening of the incident, I was called by a junior Doctor about an emergency. I rushed and parked my two-wheeler without noticing the place. On this, a Home Guard misbehaved but I ignored him and rushed towards the ward. When I came out to take my vehicle, the home guard came there with more than 10 other home guards and physically misbehaved with me”.
