Udaipur, March 21, 2025 - The Udaipur Regional Transport Office (RTO) issued notices to approximately 4,200 vehicle owners yesterday, March 20, for failing to pay the government's outstanding taxes and violating permit conditions.

Regional Transport Officer Gyandev Vishwakarma has issued notices to owners of trucks, trailers and other heavy goods transport vehicles, asking them to appear in his office on March 24, as they have not yet paid the tax for the following year. He said that on March 24, if the vehicle owners fail to provide a valid reason for defaulting, a unilateral decision would be taken and the permits for these vehicles will be cancelled.

He further said that by not paying the tax within the stipulated time, the vehicle owners have seriously violated the permit conditions. If the tax is not paid even now, both the permit and the vehicle's registration certificate will be cancelled.

Yesterday, according to Vishwakarma, 53 vehicles in Banswara, 26 in Udaipur, 16 in Rajsamand, 36 in Dungarpur and eight in Salumber were seized for failure to pay taxes. A total of 835 challans were issued and a fine amount of Rs 30.46 lakh was collected, generating a total revenue of Rs 3.35 crore.

He also mentioned that due to the large number of vehicles with unpaid taxes, transport inspectors from other districts have been deployed in the Udaipur transport sector. He added that with sufficient staff availability, stricter checks will be carried out, and effective action will be taken against the offenders.
