Shalu Jain is back on Strike, says administration not on its words

Feeling cheated by the district and state administration, the acid attack survivor Shalu Jain has once again started dharna outside collectorate. A week before, she went on hunger strike and was assured by ADM City promising her to resolve her demands.

Shalu Jain was attacked by few people in 2009. The assault left severe burn marks on one side of her face. She went through number of surgeries in past years. According to Shalu, she was promised of cash compensation and a house at government residential colony.

Since then she has been waiting for the aid but authorities have not taken any positive action yet.

She started hunger strike on 12th Feb outside collectorate. But next day, she was convinced to break her fast by ADM City Mohammad Yaseen Pathan, promising her they would take positive steps in a given deadline. But when no action was taken, Shalu decided to stage protest.

Few political parties and social groups have come forward in her support too.

According to sources, Shalu was given compensation of Rs. 1 Lakh soon after the incident. But as per the promise, the house is still not provided to her.

Shalu is demanding Rs. 2 Lakh after the Supreme Court hiked the compensation amount for acid attack victims to Rs. 3 Lakh and directed all state government to follow the common rule.
