Sunderwas mishap: Victim's Relatives protest outside Collectorate
Relatives of the 35-year-old man, who died in an accident last night at Sunderwas, demonstrated outside collector’s office and demanded arrest of the accused bus driver.
Relatives of the 35-year-old man, who died in an accident last night at Sunderwas, demonstrated outside collector’s office and demanded arrest of the accused bus driver.
The demonstrator brought the dead body of Jamnalal at Collectorate and tried to keep the body there. However, after intervention of senior police officials, the protestors were given assurance of quick action and convinced to stop demonstration.
According to sources, Jamnalal Salvi with his wife was going on motorbike, when a speeding video coach bus, allegedly coming from wrong direction, hit the couple. Jamnalal died on the spot while his wife sustained injuries. The accident took place near Sunderwas.
Soon after the incident, a large number of local residents, including relatives of the victim, gathered and started protesting. Angry mob turned violent and started pelting stones over police team. To control the situation, police had to resort to lathi charge in which one person was injured. Several people were detained by police to keep the situation under control.
The protestors had also demanded that buses and heavy vehicles should not be allowed to ply on Sunderwas Road as this had resulted in fatal accidents in the past as well.
