Bollywood Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt Released From Udaipur Jail After 2 Months and 11 Days

The release follows the regular bail granted by the Supreme Court to Vikram and his wife on Feb 19

Udaipur, Feb 20, 2026: Bollywood filmmaker Vikram Bhatt was released from Udaipur Central Jail after spending 2 months and 11 days behind bars in connection with an alleged ₹30 crore fraud case. His release follows the regular bail granted to Vikram and his wife on Feb 19. Bhatt paid a visit to the Shiv Mandir located within the jail premises, before speaking to the media.

While speaking to the media, Bhatt said that he always believes the "truth may face challenges, but truth ultimately prevails...". An interaction with a fellow inmate during his brief stay in jail got him insights into the well-known spirit and legacy of Mewar.

He expressed full faith in the Indian Judicial system and said that he has emerged stronger and more resilient from the experience.

Supreme Court Bail

On February 19, the Supreme Court of India granted regular bail to Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt. Shwetambari had earlier been released on interim bail on February 13. The Bhatt couple was arrested on December 7, 2025 after a team from Udaipur Police reached Mumbai and detained the couple from their Juhu residence, following a FIR lodged in Udaipur.
