May 08, 2026: Actor-turned-politician Vijay drew significant attention on social media after sharing a motivational message for students who appeared for the Tamil Nadu Class 12 public examinations. While the post was primarily intended to encourage students, parts of his message were later linked by social media users to the ongoing political developments in the state.

On Friday (May 8), Vijay congratulated students who cleared their examinations and appreciated their efforts. In his social media post, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief wrote, “This victory is the recognition earned by your hard work.” He also encouraged students to pursue higher education and future opportunities with confidence.

“We Are on the Verge of Victory” Remark Triggers Political Debate

In the latter part of his message, Vijay addressed students who were unable to clear the exams, urging them not to lose hope. He wrote, “At the same time, those who couldn't achieve success this time should not lose heart. Try again. Remember that we are right on the verge of victory.” He concluded with an optimistic note, stating, “Good things will happen! Success is certain!”

Soon after the post went viral, several social media users began interpreting his remarks beyond an academic context. Many pointed out that the tone and phrasing appeared to resonate with the current political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu, particularly surrounding TVK’s evolving political position.

The comments surfaced at a time when Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has been actively engaging in political outreach following a strong electoral performance, where the party emerged as the single largest in the Tamil Nadu Assembly with 108 seats. However, it remains short of the 118-seat majority required to independently form the government.

Meanwhile, reports suggesting that the Governor may seek a formal demonstration of majority support before inviting any party to form the government have further intensified political discussions in the state. Several political observers and public figures have stated that Vijay should be given an opportunity to prove his majority on the Assembly floor before a final decision is made.
