Narrating the horrifying experience, Abhishek narrated how their tour to the place known as ‘Heaven’ turned into a nightmare though it was a lifetime experience which will be remembered forever.

“Our hotel Comrade Inn at Srinagar’s Raj Bagh was submerged in water. The level of water reached till second floor of the hotel while we were at third floor, waiting to be rescued,” said Abishek who works in a private company at Udaipur.

“Our return flight was on 7th Sept. While we were preparing to leave the hotel, we saw the water level rising suddenly and reached till first floor of the hotel. Soon it escalated to the second floor and we were unable to move out, there were more than 100 people in hotel,” added Abhishek.

“We were living only on hope. There was no electricity, no water to drink, no food and no mobile network. We were completely isolated and could not contact anyone.”

Bhanupriya said, “There was also a group of more than 20 people, all from Udaipur’s nursing college who got trapped and later rescued safely.”

After three days of gruesome experience, the couple was rescued by Indian Army personnel. Abhishek forced Bhanupriya to leave with Army Jawans by chopper while Abhishek was rescued a day after through army boat.

“We brought home the appalling memories, the cries of victims, sound of choppers, flow of water, hunger and thirst. Lastly we thank jawans of Indian Army for showing their bravery and dedication,” said the couple.
