Udaipur Health Department Takes Strict Action Over Irregularities in IVF Centers

Udaipur, May 5, 2026: Rajasthan government has taken a strict stance to ensure transparency, legal compliance, and ethical standards in IVF centers operating across the state. Acting swiftly on reports of illegal buying and selling of eggs in IVF centers, the Medical and Health Department launched a special inspection drive. During this action, strict measures have been taken against centers found violating regulations, including the immediate suspension of registration of two IVF centers in Udaipur, due to serious irregularities.

Mrs. Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Department, said that recent reports of irregularities in IVF centers in Udaipur district were notified to the department. Accordingly, a state-level team was formed under the leadership of the State Nodal Officer for ART and Surrogacy. Additionally, three separate inspection teams were constituted to conduct surprise checks at all registered IVF centers in Udaipur. These teams inspected 28 centers in the district.

On May 2, 2026, the team led by the State Nodal Officer inspected Amar Ashish Hospital and IVF center in Udaipur and thoroughly examined documents related to the ART bank, ART clinic (Level-2), and surrogacy clinic. Serious deficiencies were found in documentation, leading to the immediate suspension of registration of the ART bank, ART clinic, and surrogacy clinic.

During inspections, irregularities were also found in Sampat ART bank in Udaipur, and its registration has been suspended until further orders. The investigation of remaining IVF centers is still ongoing.

Strict Action Against Irregularities

The Principal Secretary stated that violations of the provisions of the ART Regulation Act, 2021, and the Surrogacy Regulation Act will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Protecting public health and rights is the top priority, and strict action will continue against any kind of irregularity.

Regular Inspections to Continue

The department will conduct regular inspections of all registered ART banks, ART clinics, and surrogacy clinics across the state to ensure compliance with legal provisions and standards. The government remains committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and quality in healthcare services, and strict action against irregular activities will continue.
