Udaipur's MB Hospital to Be Developed into a World-Class Facility with Helipad
Udaipur, May 5, 2026: An upgrade is being proposed for RNT Medical College and the Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital in Udaipur. This was discussed in a high level meeting chaired in Udaipur on May 5, 2026 during the inauguration of the upgraded health facilites in MB Hospital. The upgrade plan will be implemented with support from Vedanta Hindustan Zinc CSR.
What is Being Planned
- Construction of 3-4 modern hospital towers, each upto 8-10 stories high;
- Each tower will be equipped with advanced medical technology;
- A helipad will also be constructed on top of the towers for emere;ncy medical transport;
- Bed capacity in the existing infrastructure will be increased to 4,000;
- Hospital will be transformed into a world-class healthcare facility;
- Providing advanced treatment completely free of cost
Need for Upgradation
The above plan was the outcome of a projected demand from the administration of the MG Hospital and RNT Medical College. Dr Narendra Rathore, Head of the MB Hospital presented an overview of the hospital's current facilites along with a future roadmap. RNT Medical College Principal Dr. Rahul Jain informed that currently the hospital caters to 8,000 to 12,000 patients on a daily basis, which is expected to go up to 25,000 - 30,000 patients daily in the next 10 years. The sanctioned capacity of beds in the hospital is 3,200.
Inviting Qualified Bids
Vedanta CSR Head Anupam Nidhi informed that a global tender process was conducted for the project, in which eight international companies participated. Out of these, three globally reputed firms—known for building premier medical institutions in countries including the United States—have been shortlisted.
