The Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railways, Ajmer division, Lalit Vohra visited the Udaipur City Railway Station and had a casual meet with media personnel today.
In a nearly 30 minute meeting with reporters, Vohra has discussed about various upcoming projects and facilities provided by the Indian railways in past and at present too. He talked about the completion of all proposed trains to Udaipur in the last budget and the idea of preserving meter gauge trains.
Answering the queries of media personnel, Lalit Vohra has informed about the three trains, which were proposed in the last budget has been fully functional by the end March 2012. He said, “all three trains proposed for Udaipur including Udaipur Shalimar Express; Udaipur to Gwalior, which is now extended to Khajurao and Udaipur to Bandra which will be completely serviceable within next month.”
However, he clearly denied any availability of budget for the Udaipur to Himmatnagar Train. When reporters asked him about the express trains to be halted on Maharana Pratap Railway Station, Lalit Vohra said “the proposal is already presented to the railway board for this; we hope to get a positive answer.”
He also informed about goods carrying trains, saying “we are focusing on goods carrier trains. Rock Phosphate transportation from Pratapnagar is already going on, and from Khemli, we are expecting high traffic as soon as the cement plant starts there.”
Regarding preservation of meter gauge trains, Vohra said that “soon these trains will become vintage for the coming generation; we need to preserve it and make a gallery for them after 15-20 years.”
The conversation was held at the conference hall of the railway station. When a journalist queried on the future budget, Lalit Vohra replied smilingly, “let the budget remain budget because if it is disclosed then it will not remain budget.”
