The villagers of Atarsumba village of Dungarpur district on Wednesday staged a protest outside the mortuary blaming the police and one of the friend Jitendra alias Rinku of the victims for killing the victims. They have also lodged a complaint of murder at Bichiwada police station and demanded a thorough investigation of the matter.
Though the villagers are claiming that the duo victims Rajendra and Jitendra aka Jamna Lal of Atarsumba village were allegedly killed and their bodies were dumped in the open well but the cause of death will get clear after the postmortem report. A huge crowd gathered outside the mortuary on Wednesday morning when the postmortem of the dead bodies of both the victims were conducted by the Medical Board here at Udaipur.
One of the relatives of the victims Ramesh Labana informed that as per them it was a fault of police administration as no information of the victim’s falling down in well has been given to any of the relatives of them. Moreover Ramesh said that signs such as footwear of the victim outside the well and no pants on another victim when pulled outside were pointing this to be case of murder. Also, the victim who survived that night’s mishap has been detained by the police who is not allowed to talk to villagers.
Ramesh demanded suspension of the entire staff of Bichiwada police or else the Labana community will stage mass protest in the district against the police department.
Considering that two victims had fallen into the well while dodging the police on Tuesday night during patrolling, the rescue operation of the dead bodies was started on Wednesday morning. Later, the atmosphere got tensed in the atmosphere as a huge mob started a protest demanding compensation to the victim’s families.
SP Anil Kumar Jain said that the complaint of the villagers has been lodged and its investigation has been started but the truth will only come out after postmortem.
