A mishap took place at Madri Industrial area when a scrap godwon near a petrol pump was caught into flames today evening at around 4.15 pm.

“The firefighting squad arrived on the scene within few minutes and controlled the fire in 15 minutes stopping it to spread further,” said Dinesh Meghwal, Fire Fighter.

Due to this mishap the assets of the scrap godown such as PVC pipes and items of fibre were reported to burn down to ashes. The godown Uday Techno is owned by Pratap Narayan Gupta, a dealer in scrap of all items.

Uday Techno used to deal in manufacturing parts of pumps, but from past few years, it started dealing in scrap business of all type (iron, rubber, plastic, fiber etc).

The loss of about Rs. 40,000 has been estimated and the reason behind the ignition of fire is still not confirmed.

However, the loss was significantly not much but a loss of around Rs.40, 000 have been estimated in the fire but the cause of fire is still unknown.

Pratap Narayan Gupta (65), owner, suspects that a lit cigarette thrown by unknown may be the reason behind this mishap as there are many stacks of thatch lying around, which could have caught fire.
