Fake RBI Calls

Udaipur, December 28, 2024 - The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has issued a warning about fake calls and voicemails pretending to be from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). These calls claim that your bank account will be blocked due to fraudulent activity involving your credit card.

According to the PIB Fact Check, the fraudulent voicemail says, "All bank accounts in your name will be blocked in the next two hours. For more information, please press nine. Namaste, yeah, Bharti Reserve Bank….”

PIB clarified that the RBI does not contact the public through unsolicited calls or emails. It also stated that the central bank never threatens individuals about account blocking.

The public has been advised to ignore such calls and report them as scams. PIB emphasized that these calls aim to deceive people into revealing sensitive financial information.
