Cyclist travels States to raise funds for Cancer Patients
The young cyclist of Indore, Sumit Singh visited Udaipur again after 2 years with a new cause of collecting funds for cancer patients this time.
The young cyclist of Indore, Sumit Singh visited Udaipur again after 2 years with a new cause of collecting funds for cancer patients this time.
Sumit started his journey in the month of March with an aim to travel 11 different states to raise funds for those cancer patients who cannot afford the treatment for their disease.
While talking to the media Sumit informed that, in his journey with a great cause he will travel around 21,000 Kilometers on his bicycle and will travel to almost 11 states of the country. Till now he has traveled 2 states-M.P and Rajasthan.
Singh arrived in Udaipur on Thursday night and stayed at one of his friend’s house at Hiran Magri area. During his 2 days stay, Sumit will visit various shelter houses, orphanage, NGOs, administrative offices to raise funds for cancer victims. He aims to raise Rs. 80 Lacs from all around the nation and till now he has collected only Rs. 12,700.
While talking about the challenges he is facing during his journey Sumit said that he is not getting good response from the people and is being ill treated by them as everyone believes that he is just creating false stories of raising funds for cancer patients. He said that the funds collected will be deposited with the Jawahar Lal Nehru Cancer Institute of Bhopal.
“On Friday I visited the Celebration Mall, few restaurants and asked people to donate but did not get a good response there and could only manage to collect Rs. 725 and I will not lose hope and in coming 2 days I will put my efforts to motivate people to donate money for the good cause”, said Sumit.
Sumit hails from Banaras and is staying at Indore from last 6 years and is a student of Fire Safety Engineering. A boy of high ambitions, Sumit has conducted many rallies and has also achieved records in his name. He always remained dedicated towards society and as a part of that he had traveled 7000 Kilometers on his bicycle in the year 2012 to motivate people to stop female foeticide under his campaign to support the “Beti Bachao Abhiyan.”
He started his journey in March from Indore and after reaching Nepal, he will return to Indore till July. To achieve his aim he is trying to travel a distance of 200 kilometers in a day and travel mostly in the late hours as he meets with less traffic in the night.
“I feel good when suddenly people came to me and started clicking their picture with me but that is not my motive. I am aiming to do some good work for under privileged people suffering from the deadly disease.”
