Honor Ceremony for Jain Devotees of Varshitap
A mass congregation will be held on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya on Tuesday, April 24 at Umarna, 65 kms from Udaipur where hundreds of people from Jain community are expected from every corner of the country.
Along with various religious ceremonies, programs, addresses at Umarna, the devotees will also mark the 100th Birth Anniversary of Jain priest Shree Sheel Guruni.
A mass honor ceremony will also be conducted for 241 people who have performed Varshitap (a practice of alternate day fasting for one year followed in Jain community). The event will be managed by Shree Mahaveer Jain Gaoshala Sansthan (SMJGS).

Moreover, he said that in the function saints like Acharya Muniji, Ganesh Muni Shastriya ji, Saint Charitra Prabhaji, Jinendra Muniji, Praveen Muniji and Vinay Prabhaji will offer their blessings to all the people present in the festival. Besides this, the people will be benefitted by the knowledge from the saints like Dr. Dipendra Muniji, Suman Shriji, Dr. Pushpendra Muniji, Ritesh Muniji, Prabhat Muniji etc.
Nirmal Pokharna and Akash Madrecha, Chief Spokesmen of the SMJGS said, “The number of women performing Varshitap is more than men. There are ladies who are performing Varshitap from last 26 years.”
